Some Silly Statements of the day

As the high temperature in the weather and the political climate increases, so does the profusion of silly utterances. Here are three examples from today:

Daily Times - Pervez Musharraf: I enjoy cordial relations with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad

Okay, you detain and harass the man in your office for five hours, then ‘dismiss’ him from his job and lock him up in his house for a week, after which you get your goons to physically assault him on the streets of Islamabad, and yet you ask us to believe that you are still on good terms with him?

What planet is this general living on?

Daily Times - Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain : Benazir Bhutto will have to join the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) if she wants to work with General Pervez Musharraf.

I reckon Chaudhry sahib should send the lady a PML(Q) application form forthwith!

Washington Post - Pervez Musharraf: "I ask lawyers to shun politics."

Around the world there are dozens of current and former presidents and prime ministers who are from the legal profession (Bill Clinton for one). Not many generals though, excepting Burma and Pakistan that is.

In reply most people in Pakistan would instead ask all their generals to shun politics - immediately!

Latest News: 4pm (PST) 5th May 2007 Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s procession has been remarkably successful so far despite the regime’s blockade of all highways flowing into the Grand Trunk Road.
